Volunteer Receptionist


We are looking for a number of friendly volunteers to act as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, residents, and Service Users at our site in Market Overton.

What does the role involve?

You will provide a warm welcome to people visiting our service. The role includes: 
  • Reception duties, answering the telephone, welcoming Service Users and visitors, and clocking them in on our Care Management System
  • Passing on information and booking appointments for residents and Service Users via our Care Management System
  • Taking bookings for our caravan sites and log cabins via our online booking system
  • Day-to-day administrative tasks such as scanning, archiving, photocopying, and franking outgoing post
  • Supporting with premises and equipment security, health and safety, and the general tidiness and appearance of the reception area
  • Ordering of stationery items when needed

Skills and qualities we are looking for

  • Outgoing, friendly, and proactive character
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • A working knowledge of standard IT programs (e.g. Microsoft Word and Outlook)
  • A good eye for detail
  • Comfortable working by yourself
  • Able to use your own initiative, but also to ask for help when you need it

Please note: due to the nature of our work, you will be required to fill in our volunteer application form and undergo an enhanced DBS check (at our expense).

How much time will I need to give?

Ideally, we are looking for someone to work one or two afternoons per week between Tuesday and Friday. Hours would be 12.30 – 5 p.m. However, there can be some flexibility to suit your circumstances.
